Henleaze Garden Shop wants to encourage everyone to give gardening a try. From beginners to seasoned gardeners, we’re ready to help make your space greener. Staff at Henleaze Garden Shop have over 200 years of experience and a wealth of horticultural qualifications between them.

Our Garden Shop boasts a diverse selection from plants to pet food. Our stock changes with the seasons so there is always something new to discover! Visit our nursery to discover a hidden oasis of plants and supplies, and speak to our staff for expert advice and tips.

Everyone of our team are horticultural enthusiasts! With a wealth of experience our team are sure to help you find the perfect plant for that tricky spot in the garden. Read below to find out a bit more about them.

Matthew

Owner

Matthew is the third generation owner of Henleaze Garden Shop and while his responsibilities vary greatly his favourite thing to be doing is growing rare varieties of chillies.

Sarah

Administrator

Sarah mostly works behind the scenes but will appear out of the woodwork occasionally. Previously a veterinary nurse she pioneered our pet section stocking it with Vet approved products for our furry friends.

Favourite plant: Daffodil

Ian

Shop Manager

Ian manages the shop section of the Garden Shop making sure tools and sundries are all stocked up for you to peruse. When he is not in the shop he is busy out and about delivering in the van.

Favourite Plant: Tulip

Jeff

Yard Manager

Jeff is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to plants, which he applies to the yard when finding rare varieties of plant life not found at other garden centre. His specific interest is in temperate rainforest biomes.

Favourite Plant: Ferns

Ruby

Ruby holds a particular interest in houseplants. As head of Purchasing for the houseplant section she enjoys finding rare plants to stock in the shop.

Favourite Plant: Alocasia alsanii

Luke

Luke is a pond and plant expert, where he manages the aquatic plant life section, as well as the wildlife and pet food section.

Favourite plant: Crimson Candles Camel

Shelley

As a retail assistant Shelley is always ready and enthusiastic to serve customer. Her favourite activity to do at the garden shop is to potter about in the greenhouses growing things from seed.

Favourite Plant: Acer

Toby

Toby loves helping customers with plant advise and curating displays in the shop.

Favourite Plant: Hosta Mouse ears

Tyler

Tyler loves helping out customers with plant advise and is particularly interested in lesser known plants and their uses.

Favourite Plant: Nettles and Brambles

Diesel

Diesel is a cheeky little chap who is often seen at the garden shop. While he is not the hardest of workers we are very happy he is around.

Caleb

Caleb is head of purchasing for plant pots and tools. He loves to curate and organise the pot displays at the garden shop.

Favourite Plant: Vanilla Scented Nemesia

Jasmine

Jasmine is a busy bee running around the shop organising various areas. She loves helping customers select plants for their garden.

Favourite Plant: Allium

Naomi

Naomi works in an administrative capacity behind the scenes. You'll occasionally see her in the Garden Shop where she loves interacting with customers.

Favourite Plant: Magnolia

Andy

Andy is a long standing member of the Garden Shop, he has spent many a year with us carefully maintaining the shop with his broom.

Favourite Plant: Ornamental Grass

Hamish

Hamish is a true houseplant enthusiast carefully maintaining displays at the shop. You'll often find him in this section or our about in the yard.

Favourite Plant: Japanese Spider Lily
